The Right Shoes for the Journey: Melody Johnson - "Are You Comfortable in Your Stilettos?"
The Tempe Chamber’s Women in Business Council presents a powerful four-part speaker series that will guide participants on becoming leaders through positive transformation at work and at home. All events will take place from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at Western International University, 1601 W. Fountainhead Parkway in Tempe. Breakfast will be provided.

Melody Johnson: “Are You Comfortable in Your Stilettos?”
Reflecting upon the road you’ve traveled is not an easy practice if you are uncomfortable with where you are today. However uneasy, the process is worth the risk! Melody Johnson challenges audiences to “get comfortable being uncomfortable” for the benefit of attaining tremendous personal growth. “Are You Comfortable in Your Stilettos?” takes on the challenges of overcoming fear, taking risks, and outlines the importance of taking advantage of opportunity, with ferocious urgency. This dynamic presentation will inspire you to begin where you are, design your future with full intentionality, and go for it!
Former Arizona State University Women's Basketball Athlete and 2002 WNBA draftee, Melody Johnson shares how participation in elite-level athletics has shaped her work and management philosophies. Vice President, Membership Development for the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, she has served as a bridge-builder, taking on the daily challenge of discovering ways in which to help businesses in the community grow and thrive. Fiercely competitive, Melody brings enthusiasm and encouragement to sale team and continues to raise the bar for self-sustaining motivation. She has also served on numerous boards and committees, volunteered for a variety of organizations, and graduated from Tempe Leadership Class XXVIII.
Cost per session is $20 for members and college students with a valid student ID and $30 for the general public. Members can purchase four tickets for the price of three at $60 (payment must be made in advance of first session).
Participants who attend every session in the series will be entered to win a pair of Southwest Airlines tickets! They are good to any destination Southwest flies and there are no blackout dates.
In addition, attendees are asked to bring a pair of new, adult women’s shoes which will be collected and donated to a local charity to assist women in getting “the right shoes” for their professional lives.
