General Statement:
Under direct supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, this position performs skilled work involving HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, installation, preventative maintenance and construction of exhibits.
Essential Duties:
- Provides quality guest service to both internal and external guests by maintaining a WILD (friendly, helpful, positive and professional) working attitude and appearance.
- Constructs, repairs, and maintains gates, fences, cages, and various other equipment throughout the Zoo. Assists with installation and repair of other types of equipment and fixtures. Monitors condition of equipment and systems.
- Provides routine scheduled maintenance and follows preventative maintenance schedules.
- Assists with fabrication of new exhibits and/or prototypes.
- Provides scheduled and emergency after-hours maintenance or repair.
- Performs other duties and projects as fits the needs of the ACNC’s business strategy.

Qualifications
- High school diploma, trade school diploma, or license preferred.
- 5 years of experience in zoo, campus, or industrial maintenance or construction.
- Experience and/or basic knowledge of all types of maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems; experience using equipment such as: backhoes, skid steer loaders, and forklifts.
- Knowledge of the application and use of equipment such as saws, torches, grinders, meters, gauges, etc.
- Familiar with preventative maintenance programs, safety, and practices.
- Familiar with OSHA regulations regarding maintenance and safety.
- Skill in interpreting schematic drawings, charts and technical instructions.
- Ability to demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
- Availability to work weekends, late evenings and holidays.
- Ability to bend, stoop, crawl and walk on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in heights of up to 65 ft.
- Possession of valid driver license.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background and DMV check, drug test, and annual TB test.
